Why I backed out of marriage plans – Reekado Banks

Nigerian singer, Ayoleyi Solomon, popularly known as Reekado Banks, has said he is no longer certain about going ahead with his marriage plans this year.

The 31-year-old made the disclosure during a recent interview on The Esther Show, where he noted that his views on marriage have changed over the last two months.

“In my last interview, which was two months ago, I was pretty sure about my stance. I said I would get married later in the year, but now I’m in a very different place,” he said.

“So, I can’t say anything definite about getting married now. Back then, I was sure, but now I’m not.”

Despite backing out of his earlier timeline, the ‘Easy (Jeje)’ crooner said he is still open to getting married.

“Absolutely, I’m still open to getting married in the future. That’s the life I’ve always known because my parents were married until my mum passed away,” he added.

The singer also explained that his decision to delay marriage is not due to his music career.

“It has nothing to do with my music career. It’s about me and my emotional intelligence, which I’m still working on.”

Reekado Banks rose to fame after signing with Mavin Records in 2014. He left the label in 2018 to start his own imprint, Banks Music.

In September 2024, he announced the birth of his son with his British girlfriend. Sharing a photo of himself feeding the baby, he wrote, “My biggest blessing so far. Thank you Jesus.”

Though he has never revealed the identity of his partner, fans continue to speculate about their relationship status.
