About AYAM CIMANI CHICKEN

 

If you ever come across an Ayam Cemani chicken, chances are you will buy it but not serve it for lunch or dinner.

At first sight, they look like something right out of a person's Goth fantasies. But they are regular poultry with a very unique appearance.

The species has fully black feathers, with black eyes and feet. Its organs, meat, and bones are also black.

Ayam Cemani chicken is rare and is mostly found in Indonesia. Its unusually black Goth look is the result of excess pigmentation of the tissues, which is caused by a genetic condition known as fibromelanosis.
